SCHOOL.

It hath begun. Three weeks in and I'm managing to stay on top of homework for once in my life. Granted it's only three weeks in. Anywho not much time for a detailed post tonight- if you want to see my ventures (once a day every day) head over to le tumblr:
http://klang-art.tumblr.com/
Since I can't go into detail about current projects (my head is spinning just thinking about them all) have a painting I did at the zoo last week- there's a bear in there (the sleeping blob in between the trees). Not that good but hey, it was an hour and a half in oils. It was fun practice.

Now I'm going to go back home and do more homework (seriously). A much more complete in detail update should make an appearance sometime this weekend.

Digital?

Thanks to my all around cool roomie friend and fellow student (HERE) I found myself rousted into practicing some more digital before finding myself back at school. In order to keep things simple I'll be doing studies of some of John Singer Sargent's work, and here's the first one:

Study of "The Spanish Dancer" approx 1hr.

Wow- things!

(Detail from earlier painting...)

Not many things to be had though. Ever sense starting work inspiration ran away quicker than imaginable. In essence what is being posted now is guilt-trip art to attempt to make up for a rather unproductive summer.

In conclusion more from life color studies are kind of important at the moment and I should work in pen more often since it forces me to attempt to be confident while drawing. Also if you can name what I was listening to during the various sketches you get internet points.

Sketches

Unfortunately there has been very little time for artwork since I started work two weeks ago now, but this 4th of July weekend I got to get out and about again and creep on people.

(^^ If only they were real ^^)

Oh and if anyone can name the albums/bands I was listening to at the time I'll give you internet cookies.

Art Show!

Well the East Aurora Art Society's Show was this weekend and it was a lot of fun. The weather could have been better but on a whole it was fantastic. If you're visiting here via the cards I had set out- welcome! I hope you managed to stay dry and had a good time as well. Browse around as much as you like and if you're interested in anything feel free to contact me (klangford.1@go.ccad.edu).
I actually did sell one piece- one of two prints of The Glass Coffin- and I received lots of nice comments all around. With that money I'll be able to get a new charger cord for my laptop so I can start up some digital nonsense again.

Paint!

As I said before- lack of internet does not equal a lack of art! (quite the opposite in fact). Here's some random ones I've been playing with for an upcoming art show:

And an older painting and demon doodle I never uploaded for some reason:

On a whole I'm feeling much more confident technique-wise- something sophomore year had me concerned about. I also think my general mentality concerning color is improving vastly but I'm going to have to do up some new pieces to prove it. For the most part this summer I'm trying to concentrate on basic weak points (hands, faces, and a refresher in animal anatomy.) If I get far enough on those I'll be trying to actually illustrate some stuff before school comes rushing back so in my free time I've been reading a good bit- just re-read some Harry Potter and I'm going to finally read Dune. The plan is once August rolls around I'll be illustrating some things I've been reading.

Just because I'm without internet...

...doesn't mean I've been neglecting art.

Will post some other paintings tomorrow if I can.
